How does 'Time in Course' work?

How Is 'Time in Course' Tracked?

'Time in Course' is tracked whenever on-page activity is detected. If no activity is detected for two minutes, tracking pauses and the session is considered inactive. Tracking resumes automatically once activity is detected again.

Note: You cannot have SonoSim courses open on two different devices simultaneously. Only the most recent session will be actively tracked.

How Frequently Does 'Time in Course' Data Refresh in Reporting?

The 'Time in Course' data updates once daily. Due to the timing of this daily update, coursework completed around the refresh period may not fully appear in reporting for 24 hours or longer.

This means that if a learner engages with a course around the daily update window, part of their activity (completed before the daily update) may appear in reporting the same day, while the remainder of their activity (completed after the daily update) might take an additional day to fully appear.

Why Is My 'Time in Course' Data Different from What I Expected?

Depending on your browser’s settings and plugins, time tracking may be blocked. Some factors that could block time tracking include:

  • Use of private browsing mode

  • Use of ad blockers

  • Use of other privacy tools
